The STEAMbox introduces, as a teaching tool, a building that can strengthen a high school’s STEAM education. Each classroom combines aspects and facilities of a traditional classroom into a concept. Through adjacency, each classroom furthers the multi-disciplinary and integrative nature of the STEAMbox through proximity, visual connectivity, and fun displays of systems and concepts.
The skin of the building reveals the classrooms and draws curriculums outside. The makershop sends its robots and projects out the balcony and the food façade uses grains and other foods for shade and display.
The building also functions as an integrated teaching tool through example. Its geothermal exchange parallels the circulatory system. Natural air circulation and HVAC systems parallels the respiratory system.
